Kids and Friends

I wanted to do something fun with my kids to help them remember the stories of the Bible. So I've been reading to them, explaining as I go, and the kids sit and color pictures showing what they've heard. Simple, and I'm sure not original at all, but still it's enjoyable and the kids do seem to remember what they've heard and understand the meaning as well as the lessons learned from it. A couple of days ago I read the story of King Nebuchadnezzar and his punishment for sin from Daniel 4. I loved the picture my daughter drew. Notice the grass in his mouth, the hair like eagles' feathers, the nails like birds' claws, and the confused bird in the tree.

I've been extra blessed recently by some of my bloggie friends. It's amazing the kind of friendships you can form with people you've never met. One of my new friends is a young lady named Jessica. Her parents are missionaries in Germany and we've become e-pals. Hearing of young people's desire to stay pure and serve God is always so encouraging to me! And it's getting so hard to find these days. Jessica is just such a young lady and I know the Lord will reward her abundantly for her faithfulness and patience. Recently I received these in the mail...
Two postcards from some of the beautiful places in Germany she's visited. Such a simple thing, but her thoughtfulness and her encouraging words were enough to put a huge smile on this face :)
Then there is Deby from Apples of Gold. An e-mail from her showed up in my inbox a couple of weeks ago. That was enough to make me feel special, but the words put me right over the edge. She told me that she would like to send me something... that it would be "her honor". A couple of days ago I received a package in the mail, just filled with goodies :) The kids (and my husband) were thrilled to see Pixy Stix, and my daughter was excited about the three packages of Morning Glory seeds sent for her to tend. She's already started trying to germinate them before we move them outdoors. I was so touched by what she picked for me. The book First We Have Coffee (which I am really enjoying), a pattern for an apron using quilt blocks (how perfect is that for me?!), and my favorite..... gravy mix. Why is gravy mix my favorite? It shows that she really listens to my ramblings. She remembered that, several posts ago, I mentioned how I was out of gravy, and was thoughtful enough to replenish my supply. Thank you so much, Deby!!

I hope that no one reads this and thinks that I'm trying to get you to send me stuff... that's not it at all. I just wanted to share the blessings that God has shown to me lately through friendship. And these are just two instances..... if I were to write them all down, I'm sure I'd run out of room. God is so good!

Germany...I love

and how sweet of Deby to be so kindhearted...mmm? I'll have to check up on this book. I always prefer recommneded reading than purchasing a book and not enjoying it or benefiting from it Spritually!

So happy that you have soo many joys brought your way!

Pam;

When you send a gift to someone you receive blessings in return. Isn't that wonderful? Now you are the receiver of blessings :)

That picture is priceless. And yeah, I LOVE the bird in the tree. TOO CUTE!

It's wonderful how God's people can be in different countries, and yet we can still bless and encourage one another. That's what families do.

I too have been blessed, not only by Deby's generosity, but by her encouraging emails and friendship as well.

Love the picture! And the idea too. I'll have to file that one away in the memory bank for when my little ones get a little older.

And what sweet gifts, too. Aren't friends great? Pixy Stix-YUM!
