Saturday we found this Archaeological Garden down the street from our house. The ruins of this large building are supposed to be from the 7th or 8th century BC, the time of King Hezekiah's reign. We really didn't know what we were looking at, but we found it very interesting to see something so ancient.
While we were walking along the paths of this garden I also found some plants that I found very interesting. Look at the thorns on this bush and on this flower.

The Crown of Thorns that was placed on Jesus' head must have been made from plants in this area. I wonder if these kinds of plants were used? Some of these thorns were almost 2 inches long! Oh, the things that our Lord suffered for us!
I also snapped this shot of Bethlehem.
I don't know exactly what I'm looking at in this picture, but it is Bethlehem. I live within walking distance of the birthplace of Christ---pretty neat, huh? It's too bad we can't go there. All U.S. Consulate employees are forbidden to go there because it is considered too dangerous. :(___________________________________________________________________
BTW----if you happened to read this post earlier than you will notice some changes......there was a mistake in it, if you even noticed it. It was late and I wasn't thinking clearly. If you don't know what I'm talking about, then I guess you'll always wonder!! I'm not going to embarrass myself again on purpose!! :)

How long have you been in Israel Pam?
To be that near the birth place of Jesus must be breath taking. Sad that you are not able to go into it. But to cheer you up, you have looked at something most people will never see. The hills of Bethlehem! What a blessing!
Din, we have been here for 4 months now!
Heather, I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures! Wish you could have been here in person with me. :(

I completely agree with what Theresa said!
How wonderful to be so close to the birth of our Saviour!
I love the photos!
Thank you for the sobering thought regarding the thorny plant. May the depths of what the Lord Jesus Christ did for us always be in front of our minds.
