The Dead Sea

We were so happy to have my husband home from work today.... thank you, Christopher Columbus! We decided to use this time to do something we wanted to do before we left here, and that is, go to the Dead Sea. It's only a 90 minute drive from Jerusalem, so it wasn't a bad trip there and back.
I feel so ashamed to call myself a blogger.... I don't have hardly any pictures to show you!! What was I thinking?? Now, I took lots of pictures, but almost all of them have my family in them, so they can't be posted here. I do have a couple generic shots though....
I found this sight kind of funny, so I had to snap a picture. These are a couple of Druze women in their "bathing suits"....
Up close you could tell that the fabric was different from their normal clothing. Very interesting.

This is a picture of the first beach we came to, at Ein Gedi. We decided not to stay at this one because it wasn't very nice, but I did get a decent view of the water....
We had to drive several miles farther to find a decent beach, but the one we found was really nice. My husband was able to float in the water, as well as my son. My daughter and I have eczema though, and the water stung, so we couldn't float. But we walked in a little bit, and my daughter helped find some chunks of salt for souvenirs.... (the white spot is where my husband was)
We didn't stay very long because it was pretty hot. I can't imagine someone trying to visit the Dead Sea in the summer time; that would be miserable. We had a good time, but I'm very glad we didn't have to pay to come here, that would have been disappointing. It was a nice experience though, and that's one more thing to check off our list of things to do.

Isn't it fun getting all of the 'double' holidays. We always enjoyed that extra overseas perk.
Glad to hear you had a nice day!

Looks like you had a good day and good weather.

I really think that the ladies in the photo are not Muslim but Druze. If you don't know the difference, they can easily be mistaken for Muslim.

Glad you got to enjoy a day by the sea.

Wow, you all are really getting to experience some neat things while living there. Thanks for sharing your pictures. I'm not sure what I thought the Dead Sea would look like...more "dead" I guess. Looks like a beautiful day.

That's funny about the 'swimsuits'. But I'm not going to laugh cause I'd need something like that too if I went swimming in the public! Trust me...others would not want to see!

Thanks, Angel... I've made that correction.
