A "Glory-ous Morning"

Well, after my last post, things don't quite seem as blog worthy as they did before. But I'm sure I'll get over that soon enough. I mean, everything is blog worthy... right? ;) Speaking on that subject, I have a blog-addiction confession to make. The other day when we were going through that whole ordeal, one of my very first thoughts was, "Great, the one day I didn't bring my camera!" How crazy is that?! Seriously though, thank you so much for all of your prayers for our family. It's good to know that the Lord is hearing our names mentioned by so many. And my children don't seem to have any problems from what happened. No nightmares or fears. Although my son prayed before dinner tonight and said, "Please don't let any more bulldozers run over cars or turn them over again."

I told you a while back that sweet, sweet Deby from Apples of Gold sent a package to our family. I had admired her Morning Glories before, so she included several packages of Morning Glory seeds for us. I have zero ability for growing anything; an absolute black thumb. Couple that with my complete lack of interest towards gardening of any kind and you will understand why the only plants in my home are artificial. My daughter, on the other hand, has a great interest in gardening, something she must have inherited from her Grandma. And while I can't really help her as far as advice, I can provide her with a very basic knowledge and supplies. The house we live in has a large balcony that already had several very large pots with soil in them, so we decided to reuse those. It's a good thing too, because when we went to the store for other supplies we found out that there is nothing inexpensive here at all. We ended up leaving the store empty handed because we refused to pay the prices they were asking. But my daughter, always resourceful, made the best of the situation and used a plastic spoon as a shovel. The dirt in these flower pots is very rocky and dry and we were afraid that it wouldn't be good for growing anything, but I just can't bring myself to buy a bag of dirt, so we'll just make do. The good thing is that Morning Glories are considered weeds, from what I understand. And weeds seem to grow anywhere, usually when you don't want them to, so I figured we had a fair chance. Well, they are growing; several pots full of them. Here's one:
No flowers yet, but green is a good sign. My children are so excited to see these growing and it's a good experience for them too. For fun we even planted seeds from some grapes we had. They're actually starting to grow! Of course, we're not expecting anything from them, but it's still fun to see.

Those look great! You'll have some beautiful morning glories on your patio in no time. :o)

I have a black thumb, too, but my husband and children are pulling me out of my "zones", and we have a garden this year.

The morning glories look like they're going to turn out great. I know the kids are loving that.

Looks like they're doing great! Deby is such a sweetheart, so generous.

Don't worry about your blog addiction. I bet most of us would have thought the same thing you did! LOL

What a beautiful addition to your patio. I love flowers, but I too do not have the gift of a green thumb.

YES...I think we all KNOW about the blog/camera thing...I was at a garden yard sale today..zipped out the camera..and then left the lady with my blog addy..think maybe we should have cards made...
I am so thrilled to see the Morning glories sprouting...if possible, they do like water.....and if you get them pretty wet...you can thin them out...you know..spread them out a bit..I will take some pictures soon of mine....and I refuse to accept the fact that MANY, to include my beloved, call them weeds.....
