Tuesday was Sledding Day here in Estonia, so Mike and Penny included us in their family outing for a fun day of sledding. It is traditional on this day not only to sled, but also to eat pea soup and the cream-puff-like pastry in the above picture (which I did not eat... I was good). From the little bit of research I did about this online I'm thinking that this "holiday" might be tied into Fat Tuesday, but I'm not sure about that. For us anyway it was all about the fun!
February 24th also happens to be one of Estonia's Independence Days, so there were extra festivities going on as well. Here are some nationals in a parade of sorts....

We had so much fun! The kids had fun before we ever got to the top of the hill....
Besides sledding they also had another "ride" set up on a frozen pond. It's sort of a merry-go-round/sled. The people in the center only have to push the lever around in a circle but the person sitting on the sled gets going pretty fast. Here I am taking a turn....
It was fun, but I gave up before too long. Centrifugal force takes control quickly and it sends many riders flying. We did so much more, and I did get pictures, but I concentrated on faces, so there aren't many I can easily post here. It started to warm up a bit today and most of the snow and ice has turned into puddles, so we got our sledding day just in time!
Our first shipment of belongings arrived this afternoon, so I need to go start unpacking and putting away. I'll try to post some more tomorrow!

Okay now that was way too much fun!!!
What a wonderful holiday, all countries should have one of those, or at least those countries with snow.
BTW, those filled doughnut like thinggies are call krafne here in Croatia and are a national favorite. Think I'll pass on the pea soup!
What a fun day! And I probably would not have been so good when it came to the pastry...Yummy!!
Glad you have finally received some of your things....it'll be like Christmas going through it, huh!
Sounds like fun! Congratulations on resisting the sweets. ;D I might not have exercised as much self control.
Hi Pam! I'm sorry that I'm so slow to reply...who knew that adding in a 3rd child would slow me down so much! LOL! Looks like you are having such a wonderful life traveling all around the world. I love reading your blog...it encourages me to update my own. Keep blogging and please stay in touch as you can. Blessings from Oki, Terry :-))
