Okay, I still haven't been able to go inside the Old City yet, but we did drive by it again today, so I took some pictures of the walls. I believe this is in front of the Christian and Armenian quarters of the city.
This one is in front of the Muslim quarter of the city.
They're not the greatest pictures, since I took them from a window of a moving car.
We were on our way to the "super"market today when I took these pictures. Boy, did we have a time there! We bought some cheddar cheese, and we thought we were being careful in what we chose. We asked to taste it first, and we even asked the price. We must have heard wrong, because when we checked our receipt later we noticed that we paid over $24 for that cheese!! OUCH! We bought one kilogram, so that came out to around $12 a pound, but no cheddar cheese is worth that much money. We'll definitely be more careful next time! I found a cake mix there as well. My daughter's 8th birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks, and we're going to try to keep things as normal as possible. No decorations this year, because we have no idea where to buy them here, but she's excited just the same. I actually found a cake mix with English directions on the box, so it should turn out okay.
We tried once more to find the church, since tomorrow's Sunday. Still no sign of it. It must be tucked away down a small street or something. I've tried to call to get directions, but so far there's no answer. I guess we'll have to find somewhere else for tomorrow. There is so much to get used to in a new city!
