Welcome Dinner

We were invited out last night, for a very fancy dinner, by a local priest. This man is an American and he loves to be around other Americans and spoil them. Laura W., I was reminded of you all night, as this guy is originally from Brooklyn! He was loud and straightforward and very lovable. This dinner was supposed to be a sort of welcome dinner for us, so he took our family plus some others out to one of the nicest restaurants in Jerusalem. He went out and found gifts for each of us as well. He got my husband a Jerusalem hat and t-shirt, a lovely bracelet for me, a bracelet and candle for my daughter, and a teddy bear for my son. He insisted that we order appetizers, a main course and dessert, and he wouldn't hear of anyone else trying to pay. I wasn't surprised when our food came and he wanted to pray for the food. I was prepared for that and had already prayed separately with the kids. But I was surprised to hear his prayer. This is a Catholic priest, but he prayed a really wonderful prayer, in Christ's name. That was refreshing to hear. The dinner was wonderful!! I had a salad, Filet Mignon, and creme brulee for dessert. They were all very delicious. I couldn't help overhearing the amount of the bill. For 10 people the total came to $560!!! OUCH! But, it didn't seem to phase him any; I guess the priesthood is lucrative nowadays! Just kidding; I honestly think this man is just very generous. We really did have a nice time and he's taking us out again next month to say goodbye to someone! I think I could get used to this. :)

Well folks from Brooklyn can be lovable I guess...That is really great that you had such a nice night out. I am learning slowly it is important to be treated to nice things from time to time. As for Mr. Priest, I still believe there is a remnant in different churches. I hope that TMO gets moving soon, even putting stuff away is better than nothing at all :-)!
