Drowning in Brown Paper

Okay, I have good news and bad news. Late Tuesday night I get a call saying that our household goods will be ready to deliver the next day. GREAT!! The bad news is that we now have to put all of this stuff away!
Yesterday the movers arrived and I went down to open the door for them (no dust bunnies flying about this time). The man at the door looked inside my house and noticed that we have stairs. We had a language barrier between us, but he held up his fingers and asked how many flights of stairs, "One? Two?" I got the biggest look of "I'm sorry" on my face that I could muster and held up my fingers, "Eight". I could see a look of panic come over his face, even though I showed him our elevator. Of course, the movers didn't realize how good their situation was, as we don't have any furniture for them to carry. We do have a couple of cabinets and two desks that the Japanese movers completely disassembled before packing up. We had a hard time putting those together when we had the directions; I'm afraid to think about trying to reassemble them now. But, that will be another post later on, I'm sure.

Well, about an hour later we had all of our boxes upstairs.

My first impulse was to fall on the couch and sleep. But, since the couch was covered in boxes and paper, that would have to wait. My husband came home early from work and we started digging in to this mountain of boxes. About three hours later, this is what the living room looked like:
**WARNING** Those with heart conditions may want to look away!!
As you can see, there are still boxes not even opened and we are already waist high in brown paper. Off to the right of this picture you can see my daughter's hand raised in the air. It was the only way I could find her!
By the time we got to bed (after midnight) we had only put a few items in their proper place. I have more boxes in bedrooms, the kitchen, sewing room, hobby room, computer room, & living room to unpack. The worst part is going to be finding a place to put all of these things. But, so far I have not found anything broken! That's a first for us.
These next few days are going to be loooong. PRAY for us!!

Pam, I am so excited for you that you got your shipment! I know the kids are happy! More special times with the boxes! We'll be praying you get everything straightened out and put away soon. Have fun! (We will soon be going through the packing stage--the one thing I dread is the cleaning!) Enjoy!

Oh Pam! Do I ever know how you feel. Except for the 8 flights of stairs, I totally cannot relate to that. :) We did 2 full moves in 6 months. Crazy! I know you're glad to have your stuff though.
