We received a piece of disturbing news yesterday, and I am hoping that you all will pray for us.
About 2 1/2 years ago, when my son was only 18 months old, he pulled a bowl of hot soup on himself and I had to rush him to the ER for second degree burns on his hand. It healed very quickly and left no scarring. A few months after this I started to notice a small brown spot on his pinky finger where one of the burns had been. I thought this was odd, but just assumed it was some sort of scar from the burn. I asked the doctor and got the normal, "It's probably nothing, just keep an eye on it." Every year it gets a little larger but when I take him in for a well child check they tell me the same thing, "Just keep an eye on it." Yesterday we took him in for his 4-yr-old well child check-up, and I asked this doctor about it again. She looked concerned right away. After examining and measuring it, she told us that it has all four signs of being a skin cancer! After doing some research I found out that skin cancers can develop in burn scars! Who knew?! We're getting a referral to a dermatologist for further testing. This is definitely not the kind of news that any mother likes to hear about their child. But, I have to say that if my child has to get cancer, this would be the type to get. It's almost always very easy to remove with little to no chance of re-occurrence. Just the same, I hate to see my child have to go through this at all. Of course, we have not been given a diagnosis yet, so it could turn out to be something else all together. I would appreciate your prayers for us to find a competent doctor here, for an accurate diagnosis, and, if necessary, for a quick, easy, and painless solution. Ultimately, my God is in control, and I am resting in that blessed knowledge.

Pam, we will definately be praying for your little man. ((HUGS))
Praying that it is nothing serious.
I am praying for him! I can only imagine how hard it was to hear those words.
Our God is faithful.
Blessings,
Sue
I am praying too!
Try to cast your anxiety on Him...one minute at a time. He's got it all under His control. I'm so glad that He doeth all things well, aren't you?
((Praying))
I'm not a religious person (as you know) but I am hoping with all my heart that it will turn out that your son is ok.
I will be praying!
Praying Pam....and so much enjoying your blog tonight and getting to KNOW you...I am jealous..we lived overseas 11 years and LOVED it and are trying to go back......
