Pray for Israel

I read a very disturbing article today on the Jerusalem Post website. Apparently today is a Muslim holiday referred to as Al-Quds Day ("Al-Qud" being Arabic for "Jerusalem") This is an annual event opposing Israel's control of Jerusalem. This year it sounds like the "festivities" were turning more violent with the help of Iran's President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. He was quoted in this article as saying, Israel's continued existence was an "insult to human dignity." This article also says that "In the capital Teheran, hundreds of thousands of people poured into the streets as they chanted "Death to America" and "Death to Israel." Some protesters also burned American and Israeli flags."
I don't like to discuss political issues, mainly because I usually don't know what I'm talking about, but I did want to bring this to the attention of my few readers. The Bible tells us that there will be fighting here; and the fighting will continue until after we hear that glorious trumpet sound! But while we are still on this earth, we can all "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem..." Psalm 122:6 We can also pray for our nation's leaders to have the wisdom to continue to support Israel. "And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee..." Gen 12:3 I am afraid to think of what would happen to our nation if God's hand of protection was removed. At the moment, I am very proud to be an American; to be part of a country that still supports Israel. I am thankful to be a Christian; and to have been given a Savior through the Jewish people, God's chosen people. I hope you will join me in praying for Israel, America, and the soon return of our Lord Jesus Christ!

Ahh yes, I have been the recipient of(far too much)informing on the topic of Israel and the U.S.A.'s continued support of them,my grandfather being the source of this informing, and oft on the side of WE NEED TO STOP helping them....I disagree; I read my Bible to him and of course he is an Athiest so what good did that do(well, one never knows with God-do we? and His word never comes back void, scripture says so...)though it *seems* fruitless to speak truth with people like this;

"For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of; for necessity is laid upon me; yea woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel."—1 Corinthians 9:16.
(From Spurgeon's archive.)

We have to do it, we will do it and yes, your right, God's word empowers us to be able to step out in this, and to continue doing it.
