The Weekend

It is finished! My quilt, that is ;) I decided to quilt by hand, so it took me a litle bit longer to get done, but only about a week and a half total (quilting and binding), so that's not too bad. Like anything that these human hands touch, there are many imperfections, but overall I'm very pleased with it.
If you click on any of these pictures, you can see the detail much clearer. I found objects around my house that I could trace onto the quilt top for pretty designs.
I traced around a plate on the borders, and it became these pretty scallops.The scallops came to an abrupt stop at the corners, so I came up with this little free-hand loop-de-loop to finish it off.

Saturday was a beautiful day, with just enough wind for flying kites. My husband knew of a nice, big park, so he took us there for some fun playtime together. Here's my daughter running with her kite, trying to get enough air under it.
My husband spent most of the time we were there flying his kite (with many local onlookers), and I took the kids to this playground.
This is just part of the playground; the whole thing was pretty large, with lots of nice toys for the kids to play on. They really enjoyed the swings. (they were always my favorite too)
There was a live band there playing traditional Jewish music, like Hava Nagila, and others that I didn't recognize.
And this beautiful tree.... I've never seen one like this before.

We had a great time; and it was very nice to spend some quality time with each other.
