On Monday(the day before my Dad's birthday), my Grandma died at the age of 87. We've all known this was coming for a long time now, so it wasn't exactly a surprise; but it's still sad. My Grandma was not the type to spoil and pamper her grandchildren, but I always knew that she loved me. Unfortunately, for the last 13 years our visits with each other often ended in tears. She was convinced that the Catholic church, and the works she was taught to do, were the right path to Heaven. It broke her heart to see me on a different path; one that she thought would lead me to Hell. I take no satisfaction in knowing that she now knows the truth. What else can I say? Losing a lost loved one is hard.
It feels strange that this weekend is the time to celebrate Resurrection Sunday. In the U.S. you are bombarded with easter eggs, bunnies, and baskets everywhere you look. We haven't seen any of that here, and if it hadn't been for my calendar, I might not have even known when it was. We have seen a lot of decorations and "stuff" for the Jewish holiday of Purim, which also happens to be this weekend. Purim is commemorating the deliverance of the Jewish people from the wicked plot of Haman, in the book of Esther. Many people dress up, give gifts, and "overindulge" in all sorts of other things. I haven't been outside of my home all week, but I might see some of the celebration this weekend. I'll bring my camera along, just in case. Besides the Jewish holiday stirring things up in town, there is also a large number of tourists visiting because of the "easter week". I found this article mentioning some of things happening. I'm glad I haven't been in town to see this... too showy for me. I heard about a guy last week (on palm Sunday) that was walking around the streets of Jerusalem dressed up like Jesus. A film crew was following him around because they were making a movie about Jesus coming back in modern times. All of the people walking around were "extras". This town attracts a lot of crazy people. Having said that, I'm kind of hoping to get a picture of something strange.... curiosity, I guess.

Pam my dear I am so sorry for your loss. My prayers are with you and your family during this time.
I would love to see pics of some strange things there.
Take care hun and sned some love to the family for us.
I too know the sadness of a LOST loved one. Lost without hope and assurance! of eternal life. Praise GOD we have that assurance. I know Pam that your faithful testimony spoke volumes to her and yes, we HOPE that on her dying bed perhaps as the theif on the cross..her last words were...Forgive me LORD...remember ME. amen.
((hugs))
