Random

You probably didn't notice, but I haven't been around this week. My cable modem stopped working and it took a few days and lots of time spent on hold before we got someone out to fix the problem. But, it's working now, so I'm back. Please forgive me if I haven't been by your blog, or answered your e-mail; I'll get around to it... eventually.

Nothing really important has been happening this week, but I'll try to remember some of the highlights ;)

We were invited to a going away party for a family that my husband knows through his work. We arrived at the same time as another family that has a little boy my son likes to play with. As soon as my son got out of the car he ran straight up to this little boy and said, "Look at all these big rocks! But our God is bigger. I believe in God. Do you believe in God?" I love that his first thoughts upon seeing his friend were on the Lord, and he wasn't ashamed to say so. I can see a preacher in the making, and I hope to encourage those traits in him.

There's an American couple at our church that has invited us to come to their house for some fellowship. We're not sure if we'll be allowed to go there because they live very close to the West Bank, but we'll see. We might end up having them at our house instead, which would also be very nice. Either way, it will be nice to get together with other Christians.

Our curriculum for this coming school year finally arrived this week! We aren't planning on starting until next month, but it's good to have everything here, ready for when the time comes. My daughter is not too excited for school to start again, but my son was ready the day it arrived. I'm hoping that after a few more weeks of summer break my daughter will also be ready for some structure in her days again.

I still don't have my projects for this summer accomplished. I filled one photo album, but probably have enough pictures for two more. And I haven't even opened my scrapbooks. I've lost motivation for it really. There's only so many hours in the day, and I always seem to find something more interesting to do. I've been doing a lot of work on my massive cross-stitch project though. I'm almost done with the top row, which is about 24,000 stitches... I'll post a picture of my progress soon (I hope). I only have about 5 more rows I think... (yeah, multiply that out!!), so maybe in a year or two I'll finally have a completed project to show you ;) I barely made any progress on getting a quilt made this summer. The only thing I did do was find and purchase a pattern! This one will be for my daughter. I've mentioned before how most of my quilts have gone to other homes. I thought it was about time to make something nice for my own family! This is the pattern I chose:
The background is fairly simple, but I love the appliquéd flowers around the edges. I think this will turn out very nice. I'm going to wait to start it until after we move again though. I'm hoping I can find fabric in the next place we live. It's so hard to find what I need online, and for something this special I'd really like to see my choices in person.

Okay, that's enough randomness for now. The real world is calling! :)

Hey Pam! I wouldn't worry about not getting those summer projects completed just yet. We bought a house this April and we are still not unpacked. Funny thing is, we've found boxes that we never unpacked when we got to Oki almost 4 years ago!

I love the quilt pattern you picked for the lil miss! The flowers will look beautiful I'm sure!

I love when our Pam is random!!

Hi, glad you're back and that you were able to get your modem fixed. You said you might not be allowed to go to this other family's home because they live on the west bank...is that because of threats?
