One is for a young lady that will be getting married in a couple of months (Jess, don't let Amanda see this... okay?) Do you think she'll like it?....
It's a lap-sized quilt; just perfect for getting cozy on the sofa. I just need to sew the binding down around the edges, and this one will be complete. Here's a close up of the quilting; you can see it better on the backside....
It's a very basic design all around, but I was running out of time; so I hope it's the thought that counts! The second quilt was inspired by Hope. She and I share a love of all things paisley and she gave me the great idea to make a quilt entirely out of paisley fabrics. She's been helping this along by sending me paisley fabrics for the past couple of years. I finally had enough, and this is what I came up with....
This design is also very basic, but with such a busy collection of fabrics I didn't want an elaborate block design. I still have to do the quilting on this one and then I will bind it with a rich brown. I'll post another picture when I'm finished. I didn't get all of my photo albums and scrapbooks completed this summer, but I'd say that I got quite a bit accomplished with my other crafts. Now my next big job will be starting a fall/winter wardrobe for my daughter. Good thing it doesn't get cold here until really late in the year!

Both quilts look great! I agree with you on the paisley one - a busy quilt design would be too much, even to my inexperienced eye! LOL I do love the colors though. How did you do the blocks? I tried to see if the middle red squares were pieced together or if they were one bigger square, but I can't tell. Plus I don't know much about quilting.
I'm sure your friend will love her quilt. Things made by hand by a dear friend are always loved. I have a cross stitch piece done by a dear friend years ago, whom I lost contact with, but I hang on to it because I loved that she made it just for me - plus it's a beautiful piece.
Both are beautiful. My mother does beautiful quilting, and I'm great at admiring it...not so great at the actual doing it. I think the paisley one is my favorite of the two that you showed.
Awww...how sweet! :) I think she will love it!!! Now I just have to make sure she doesn't visit your blog...hmm... Well, it shouldn't be too hard - she doesn't do much blog reading these days. Too many other things to think about (Aaron, wedding plans, Aaron, wedding plans, Aaron....) haha :)

Jess :]
These are both very pretty. I especially like the paisley one.
I just LOVE the Paisley quilt..it is beautiful..I would have never chosen that pattern so now you have opened my creativity to a NEW Quilt for myself! People can't appreciate the beauty really until they see it in person. Photos never do Quilts justice! However..yours does!
The reds are nice!
Just a girl after my own heart!
Hugs with love..
HOPE
You were right to use a simpler design with the paisley. The balance is perfect!
Beautiful work :o)
you have been awarded!! go to perilloparodies.blogspot.com and see!! have a great and blessed day!
Your quilts are beautiful. My mom quilts. SHe didn't start until I was all grown up and had moved away, but, thankfully she makes many and them gives them to us. HEEHEE!!! I love them all. She made me a absolutely gorgeous "americana" american flag for my dining room wall.
