Exciting News!

It's about that time again. Time for us to move. We still have a little longer in Jerusalem, but moving time is close enough that my stomach is all tied up in knots, just thinking of all the things that need to be done before it's time. And even though the time is near, we just found out today where we'll be moving to! A few months from now I will no longer be "Pam--in Jerusalem". Instead, I will be "Pam--in Estonia". I can hear most of you saying, "Where is Estonia??" Here's a map, to help you place things.... (We will be in the capital, Tallinn)

This may not seem exciting to you on the surface, but let me tell you how we could see God working in this assignment...

So you can understand the magnitude of God's work here, let me explain... the decision of where we want to live is not up to us. I don't just mean that God chooses where we'll go (although, of course, this is true), I mean, my husband's employer picks, and we obey. It's not like we get a world map and they say, "Show us where you'd like to live." There are only so many offices in the world, and the positions aren't all open at the same time. Therefore, where we go depends on which positions are open at the same time that we are scheduled to move, and where the powers-that-be decide to put us. I'm sure if a statistician did the math on this, the probability of us getting an exact, desired location would be very small.

And a little history that applies... When we were living in California we became friends with a family in the church there. This family had been serving for years as missionaries in Russia before the government forced them to leave. While they were praying about where the Lord would have them go next, they served in the church in CA, where we had the opportunity to know them. They finally moved on to God's new mission in their lives, and we moved on to ours.

So imagine our surprise when we found out that the place that God and the government has decided to put us for the next phase of our lives is the same exact city as our missionary friends from California! They have been serving in Tallinn, Estonia for several years now.... we've even been helping to support them financially. Who would have ever thought that our little offering to them would end up helping us?! One of the fears I had before my husband took the job he has, was the uncertainty about where we would live and if there would be a church there. But God gave me peace that this was HIS will, and he would take care of everything for me. And he has!! He gave us an Independent Fundamental KJV Baptist church in Jerusalem, Israel, and now he's sending us into the arms of loving friends with like faith... and I must add, the man is an amazing preacher too! What more could any child of God ask for? We are truly blessed.

Now, be ready for lots of questions from me in future posts.... I've never lived somewhere so COLD and I need to get prepared!

I've been wondering where you were going next! I hope you adjust to the cold quickly...I assume it's similar to Canada. Better buy some warm clothing!
Just the other night, we went online to listen to a missionary kids choir sing. Susan of ByGrace had let everyone know that her son was singing a solo part. Anyway, at that mission's conference they had a phone conversation with Andrew Bunnel, missionary to Estonia, who had previously been in Russia....is this the same family?

Hi Deborah--- I hope you'll be able to give me some good advice for staying modest in a cold climate. You should have lots of experience with that!
No, this family's name is Smith, not Bunnel... but it's exciting to hear there are so many missionaries there!

Oh Pam this is such wonderful news and I am so happy for you. I have no worries you will get the clothing situation figured out because you are just amazing and can do so much. Love you my dear and I cant wait to start to hear and learn new things about Estonia.

Pam, my favorite winter skirt for really cold days is a corduroy one...not very pretty, but very warm! If you're spending much time outside, leggings or leotards, rather than stockings are a good idea!
Having worn pants in the past, I can tell you that skirts are actually warmer. Pants tend to stick to the leg, and therefore you feel the cold air. Dresses stop the wind before it hits you. So if anyone ever tries to use a cold climate for not wearing dresses, it's just an excuse!

Oh how exciting, not only to be moving to a new city but to have friends already there. And to top it all off you get be a part of an IFB KJB church that your friends have started. The Lord truly is amazing.
Have fun getting ready for the cold = }

How exciting! There is something thrilling about change when it comes to going to a new place. And what a wonderful thing to have our Father so well suit your family with another family to help ease the departure. I'm with Deb on the cordouroy, I wear a lot of it during winter; that and heavy linen (I make my own clothes so it's easy to afford linen), and a cotton slip all the way the length of the garment helps too. It's funny, my husband is having to deal with my hot flashes - so my friend, I'd trade places with you for the coolness right about now! Poor guy lives with a breeze in the bedroom via a fan on me!
Ah, praise the Lord. Rest in Him and plan on paper to ease the details. Yippie!

Pam, I know this is an old post. I have been reading but have a hard time finding time to comment. Anyway, I have a sort of silly question I guess. Since your friends are missionaries to the Estonian people, aren't their services in the native language? (Estonian???) So, will y'all attend the regular services or will you have a seperate service in English? Just curious.

Oh, and I'm super excited for you all.
