I finished a couple of dresses this past week. My daughter picked out the fabric and design for this one. I'm not crazy about it, but she likes it, and it's modest, so that's one battle I won't be fighting....
For my dress I used a trusty old pattern that I knew would fit and look good. I also decided to fully line the dress, so it's extra comfy and will wear really well. Nina, you'll like this one.... the name of the fabric is "Portugal"....
This week we've had a few changes to our plans. Remember that mandatory 2 week paid vacation I told you all about? We were supposed to take this between our moves, you know, to have a break and get recharged. It looks like that won't be happening now. They're shorthanded in Estonia, and need my husband there ASAP, so unless things change somehow, we'll be headed straight there from here. We are still supposed to get our vacation, but it will have to wait until a time when my husband can be spared; maybe a few months after we get there. Not long ago, I might have been really upset about this, or at the very least, stressed-out about such a big change in plans. But I have been praying about this whole move and vacation for so long and have given all of the planning and decisions over to God, and he has given me a peace about all of this. I can't help but wonder though.... remember how it was said that our new president would be tested shortly after he took office?? Do I really want to be flying to the U.S. out of Israel at such a time as that? Hmmm. Whatever the circumstances, I know this is part of God's perfect plan, and that's good enough for me.

How sweet that your daughter wants a nice FEMININE dress with lace! I can see her desire to be PRETTY!
Love your pattern...I'll have to get the number from you!
and..yes...GOD's PERFECT PLAN...we MUST trust in this and know that HE IS GOD and ALL HIS ways are done in truth and with purpose.
I'm excited for you all!
Hope~ the pattern is great... but it is also discontinued. It is Butterick 4181, and you can still get it through the Butterick website, but you'll pay over $15 for it.
Great pattern, and I like the color and print - good for Thanksgiving! And so femininely modest.
Beautiful sewing, Pam..and you are so right, God's timing is always perfect.....

Hi Pam, i just love your works. i hope you don't mind that i'm here. and can i ask some question, on where and how you ordered the fabric. I'm a filipina and was a dressmaker, too. I would like to do that here, too.
Hi, Grace! If I read correctly on your blog, you are now living in the USA... is that right? I ask that because if you are living outside of the US, you're going to have a hard time buying fabric and supplies online. We have a US address, so it's no problem for us. If you are living in the US, then these websites will be useful for you getting the supplies you need:
www.fabric.com
www.joann.com
www.clotilde.com
www.fashionfabricsclub.com
www.hancockfabrics.com
There are many, many, many more places to buy from, but these are a few of my favorites. Hope that helps!
I LOVE those dresses!!! I wish I could sew that well.
Great dresses!!! You did a superb job. I really like yours.
God will take care of you and your family. I pray everything goes well for you all. Praying for you especially during this time of change. connie
You really like to sew and do such a great job at it!
I'm sorry your plans didn't work out for you. God must have a reason though.
