A Man's Job

My good friend Hope e-mailed me with a suggestion about my son's recent rebellion with food. She put the thought out there that maybe he was looking for attention; possibly even jealous of the time I spend doing "girly" things with my daughter. I don't see that, but I am open to the fact that I could just be blind to it, or that he's showing it in a way I don't understand. Anyway, Hope recommended doing something just with him, and I like that idea. After all, even if he's not looking for attention, or jealous, it can't hurt to spend time with your kids.

My poor husband works so much; we're lucky if we see him for dinner most nights. But today he was able to be home at a decent time, so he and our son had some "manly" time together. My friend Kimberly gave me some craft supplies a few years ago and I found a birdhouse kit among them. It was cute, I guess I got a little too close to the project and my son informed me that I wouldn't be able to help, because this was a man's job. Here they are hammering in the nails....
And here is the finished birdhouse....
I love seeing my men working together and enjoying each other. I always worry for my son a little since he's home all day with just his sister and me. It's definitely good to have some Daddy time!

How precious!

I think by his expression to you...this was HIS time.

Now he and your daughter will have somethings to SHOW...as girl stuff and BOY stuff!

That's a cute birdhouse! They did a great job! We used to go to Home Depot when we lived in the states and do things like that one Saturday each month. Those were fun times!!

I know they were working on the birdhouse and it looks great but all I could think about was how LONG your son has become! My word!

My son grew up with three sisters in the jungle with only the indian boys around. It is important to recognize his manhood even at his age.
Looks like he enjoyed making that birdhouse!
