Sledding

(My friends have given me permission to use their names, so you will hereafter know them as Mike & Penny.)
Mike & Penny were going to spend Saturday at a frozen-over lake and invited our family to join them. My husband had to work, but the kids and I were glad to go. The area was beautiful! The lake is surrounded by woods, and of course everything was covered in several inches of snow. This picture doesn't capture the beauty of the scene, but you'll get an idea...
We all had a fabulous time sledding down the hills and playing in the snow. My kids spent hours and hours on this frozen playground and never tired of it. Here you can see my daughter zooming down the hill and my son pulling his sled back up to the top...
And, I even got to see the rain skirt in action! Of course, for these purposes I guess it would be called a snow skirt. It did a perfect job of keeping my daughter dry and modest. And I even got compliments on it from some other sledders. Here's my daughter fully suited up and ready to head down the hill...
The snow gear I purchased for my children all turned out great. They were rolling around in the snow and everything but were always warm and were completely dry when we got home. I, however, learned that I will need to find some warmer socks before we try this again. I think I finally started to feel my toes again by that evening! Overall, it was a wonderful day.... definitely not a bad way to spend my birthday :)

What fun!

Enjoy your new country. And don't feel bad at all about your lovely home. I talk to my husband some about my bloggy friends and when I told him you made it to Estonia he said..."Hmmm, Pam...she's the one who's husband is a high profile CIA agent?" ----We laugh of course....but If I asked you for real , you might have to say, "I can tell you, but I'd have to kill you."

So...I'd rather live in ignorance and just wonder!

Glad your back...you were missed!

The rain/snow skirt turned out wonderful! Your daughter is very blessed having a mother that can sew. My mom sewed so much for me as I was growing up, and it eliminated a lot of 'problems' :)

Happy Birthday! You sneaked that in at the end. It looks like lots of fun - except for the cold part. If only snow came in a warm option! LOL

Happy birthday Pam! I'm so glad you all arrived safely. I'm not a big fan of snow but the pictures are lovely. I love the picture in your header. Is that from Estonia?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! (what day was that??)

I bet it was even prettier in person! I love it when the trees and everything are covered with snow like that. Needless to say, I don't see that in Georgia. :) But I did get to see it some in Germany.

That's great that the kids' snow clothes worked so well! I hope you find you some warmer socks soon! ;)

Love,
Jess

Having grown up skiing, the cold feet answer is layers on the feet, too. We wore, I think, thin silk socks, and then wool socks. Perhaps now days it's the coolmax type of socks that wick away the moisture for the first layer. Keeping your feet dry is the most important thing.

Pam,
Looks beautiful there, can't wait to see spring pictures. I was wondering, how did the travel pillow work out on the plane? We're going on another long trip, and this sling like pillow looks pretty good, though I would like to figure out how to make one, than spend the money.
