Despite the absence of our shipment, last week was really good. Last Wednesday there was a charity concert given for an orphanage here in Tallinn. My husband and the guys who work for him volunteer at this orphanage, and they were given free tickets to the event. My husband purchased three extra for me and our children so we could go with him. We all felt very fancy going to the Estonian concert hall....
The tickets we had were for nice balcony seats....
And the view was perfect. Check out that great pipe organ....
I didn't take any more pictures once it started..... my sense of propriety took over my bloggy nature. The musicians performed Beethoven's "Leonore" overture no.3, and Symphony no.9. There was also a large choir that sang along with Symphony no.9; they were excellent. The choir was a combination of local Estonian youths and Japanese senior citizens. Before the music began an elderly Japanese lady stood up to say something, which was in turn translated into Estonian, neither of which were understood by us... but, it was sort of surreal considering we lived in Japan for 3 1/2 years. I was just waiting for a few Jewish people to make an appearance :) Last week I also had the privilege of hosting a Bible study with a couple of missionary wives here, Penny & Denise. We hope to make this a frequent event which would be great.... I know I need it! We've decided to go through the book "Secrets of a Happy Heart" by Debi Pryde. I've read this book a few times, but it's definitely worth reading again, especially with a group. Something about having to report to others what you've learned makes you study harder. Plus, these ladies are a joy to be around and it's great having fellowship with believers.
I had a few more questions left on my last post, so I'll try to answer those here.
Deby asked, "FOOD...is it expensive compared to the dollar?"
That's a little tricky since we haven't lived in the U.S. for over 5 years; I'm not sure what the food prices are like there any more. But from what I can figure they are pretty close. Maybe a little more pricey here for some things, but nothing crazy. Some other items are overpriced, but the food is reasonable.
"Can you shop for fabric there?"
YES! Although the fabric is more expensive than the U.S. there's just something nice about being able to see it and feel it in person. And even if I decide not to buy my fabric here, I will at least have access to lots of different notions. Have you ever tried buying thread online to match fabric? It's not easy.
Becky asked, "What does your husband do and how long will you be in Estonia?"
I see that you're new here.... welcome! Unfortunately, for security's sake, I can't give too much information about those questions, but I'll give you my vague response. My husband is working for the U.S. government and we'll be here for a little over a year, Lord willing. However, we live day by day and follow where the Lord leads us; and you just never know where that will take you! We've had a few surprises over the years :)
Thank you all for your interest.... I wondered if anyone would stick around once I left the "excitement" of Jerusalem!

What a beautiful opera house, and what fun to get to go! Your Bible study with the missionary wives sounds wonderful. It's made me consider having something similar here, although we live in such a busy city and lead busy lives ourselves. It would sure be a welcome retreat!
Never wonder if we'll follow you to your various locations around the world - I, for one, am here to stay.
I enjoyed my look at Denise's blog. She writes deeply, and I appreciate that. I'll be going back!
I'd love to hear more about the orphanage!
Wow, looks like a lovely place!
Hey we're with you for the long haul, where ever your trek takes you.

Speaking of Jerusalem. I noticed in another post you commented on the food there. Is it really that bland? I always thought it would be full of flavor except for things specified for Passover.
By the way, I'm still here and enjoying your adventure with you. Estonia sounds interesting. Did a little research on the place and found it very interesting.
What a beautiful Concert and organ..WOW....I would guess the acoustics were remarkable...
I thank you for the answers..if I think of anymore I will sure ask...sometimes my brain is not engaged in the right gear, lately...
I am so glad that you are having Christian fellowship !!!
