I Need Your Ideas
Okay, I've mentioned a lot lately how we're taking a trip soon to climb Mt. Sinai, and to visit Egypt. I would really like to do a project of some kind with my kids to prepare them for all they are going to see; so they can understand it better. I'm going to read them all of the Bible passages which mention these places, and I know that will help a lot, but I would like to do more. I'm having a hard time finding coloring pages to print out for them to color, and I don't have a library to get books from. I would really love your ideas for things I could do with my kids to get them excited. I'm having a mental block! I can't wait to see what all of your great minds come up with!

Well maybe if you had some shoe boxes you can put them on their side and make shadow boxes of the things they will see. You can make different ones with the different things or get one big packing box and fill that with all the things you will see. Maybe use sugar cubes to make the pyramids and then paint it to look like sand or cut colored paper as a pyramid and have a little extra to fold so the pyramid stands up and draw the lines for the bricks. Make palm trees and any other things you know you will see from the things you will find around the house. This way they can have something to look at that is not flat like a picture and they can pretend they are walking along those areas and use some of their toys as them in those areas.
I hope this makes sense and I know your cuties are very creative and will amaze you with what they can come up with for the things to use.

I like the ideas, Jenny, thanks!! I'm sure my kids will love that, and I know they can think of all sorts of creative things to add to the box. This project is right up their alley!
Love the sugar cube idea..how cute and fun.
Dough art can be crafted to shapes...you can do a search. I think I have two recipes. One calls for a piece of bread and glue like Elmers. Or you can make a flour, water and salt mixture. Then paint. Some recipes don't require baking..just air dry.
Can't wait to SEE what they make.
This may not be worth the air it's printed on, but my first thought was,
"If that were me, and I had a chance to visit the place where God met with Moses, NEVERMIND making it fun or interesting for the kiddos!"
Just worship! And marvel that you're there! Let your own deep sense of wonder do the talking; they're just along for the ride.
That's what I'd do. (But yes, I'd first prepare them with the Scriptural story that inspires the awe.)
God bless...I am happy for you!
Wow, how did I miss this? Sorry! I don't know what it is about me and rocks ;), but they could collect a rock or twig from each site -put it in a labeled ziplock-and when they come back...glue it in the appropriate spot with maybe a picture of them standing there?
