Where, Oh Where Is My Little Girl's Hair?

Yesterday my daughter and I decided that it was time for her to get a haircut. Neither of us has gotten one in over a year! It's not that there aren't places here to do it, but my husband's job is so demanding; I hate to ask him to take time off for something so unimportant. Plus, from what I understand, it's really expensive. So our hair has been getting long, and in my daughter's case, unruly. She had so many split ends that it didn't really look nice anymore. She loves having long hair, so it was a difficult decision to let me cut it. But she agreed that it would be better for her hair to get all the 'dead' stuff off the ends and let it grow back healthy. When we started she could tuck her hair into her waistband.... now it's only a few inches past her shoulders :( We took off about 6 inches all together. It looks nice though, and it's much easier to take care of. I am really bad at cutting hair, so I was very nervous to do this for her. You wouldn't think that you could mess up trying to cut in a straight line, but some how I manage it every time. I'm sure that a professional hairdresser would gasp in horror if she saw the job I did! But my daughter's hair is curly, so it hides any unevenness to the average viewer.

We got the pictures of my husband with the Pres1dent. I am so disappointed though! The man who took the pictures was supposed to be a professional, but they are really bad. :( They're trying to track down another person that they saw with a camera and see if they took any pictures that turned out better. Well, if we never have frameable pictures, at least we have a great story and a snapshot with some blurry figures!

I made a skirt from the fabric that I mentioned last week. The one that was a 'miracle' because it turned out to be just as pretty in person as it appeared on the computer screen. My daughter is my photographer, so that would account for the slight blurriness and the funny angle, but you get the idea. Nothing fancy, but my husband likes it!

Only 13 days of school left!!!! (not that I'm counting or anything ;)

I have naturally wavy hair and have cut my hair since I was a teenager when it needed it. It is such a blessing that it does not show mess ups like other hair. I think God knew that I would need this extra blessing.

I am sorry about the pictures turing out blurry. I hope you are able to find a good one.

I bet your daughter's hair looks very nice. Have a joyful day. connie from texas

LOVE the fabric for your skirt!

I used to try to cut my little girl's hair, but now I don't dare touch it! ;) She has thick, dark hair that is straight as an arrow, so if I mess it up, it shows.

Sorry about the pics that turned out bad! I hope you can find the other person and get some good ones.

I'm sure you did a great job with her hair. Keith cuts my hair most of the time! :) It works for us.

Too bad about the picture. If nothing else, he still has the memories...and a bad picture.

I love your skirt. It looks really nice.

ONLY 13 days left...no!!.... WHO's counting!

Beautiful skirt..now if I could get one to look that nice on me that "I" made...

I bet M's hair looks very pretty..it is probably more "bouncy" now.

I have to be very careful when I cut mine..I do it all the time..but have nightmares the next day that it is all gone! LOL

You have to stop somewhere!! but trying to keep getting it straight can wind up with a ..well shorter than you planned kinds look!

Glad you did okay!

Yes, we were sad to see our girls' hair go too, but it is soooo much easier and healthier...I do want them to grow it out again :)

Oh, haircuts are so needed for little girls, it makes it grow out thicker, and they learn about caring for it being different lengths. I cut my daughter's hair for years, and it was fairly straight, she did not mind. We go to someone now that she is in college, and it matters a little more. A big trick was to keep her chin down, when cutting, so it helps to 'turn under' slightly, and cut in a couple layers.

I think your sewing jobs are great. When you find a good skirt pattern, its very hard to change. I'm in the 'looking' for one phase. My daughter and I want to have several skirts for our trip to Israel, I think they will be cooler, and look nice. The hardest thing we have is finding fabric that we can handwash in the hotel and not need ironing, and also shirts that will wash and dry quickly (so no t-shirts). We will have an 18 day trip, and plan to bring about 5-6 changes.

I would be so disappointed with the photographer:( a good idea if you can find out who the other ones were. Sounds like a hard job to track them down though.
have a blessed day, thanks for the emai, we'll check our schedule for a free sunday

I know all about the hair thingy...I have a husband who REFUSES to go to a barber...so that would leave you know who to do the cutting! I guess after 12 years...I might as well be a barber. hmmm wonder if I could put that on my resume!!!!

This is our last week of homeschool! Woohoo!!!!
