Each night we work on memorizing a portion of Scripture and the Roman's Road is what my children have been learning lately. I know they're young, but I wanted them to learn how to be an effective witness to others. My daughter is saved already, so she can use this now. My son is still too young to really understand that the need for salvation applies to HIM personally, but he will have these verses in his heart for when he does realize his need. I was saved for about 4 years before I even heard of the Roman's Road. I had no idea how to effectively witness to someone about the Lord, so a friend showed me this series of verses.
Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;"
Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
Romans 5:8 "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
Romans 10:13 "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
There are several more verses that I use when I witness to someone, but I wanted to stick with these basics for my children.
Now that they've learned the verses, we've been working on effectively using them as a witness. After all, it's no good having a loaded weapon, if you don't know how to use it! We use a devotional series for our kids called "The 60-Day Wonder Devotional" that taught us how to make and use a wordless book. Here's the one my daughter made:
Both children have been practicing what to say for each page. Each color directs them through a different part of the plan of salvation. They are both excited to read this to someone; anyone. They are planning on reading it to my Dad if he gets to come for a visit this summer. I can see the Holy Spirit using this to soften my Dad's heart. What could be more tender than a grandchild reading to you about the sweet love of Jesus?

That's wonderful. During our Bible time for school one year, I would have the children "practice" leading the other to the Lord. Your post brought back sweet memories for me. It is so important to teach our children how to lead someone to the Lord. Fortunately, our oldest has been able to do that working in VBS and in the bus ministry. It's a blessing.

I have know the "Roman's Road for most of my life. For many years now I have had the "wordless Book." I taught it to all my Grandchildren. The Roman's Road was one of the verse verses that I taught my children when they were saved. I believe in "hiding the word in your heart."
The picture of the Roman Road touched my heart. Thank you so much for sharing that.
